What is Laramie Head Start?
Laramie Head Start is a comprehensive child development program serving economically disadvantaged children and families. Currently Laramie Head Start is funded to provide services for 83 children ages 3-5, and their families through a full-day center-based program. The priorities of the program are to ensure the health and safety of children at all times, to foster family engagement, and to support the school readiness of children. Since its establishment in Albany County in 1965, Laramie Head Start has served thousands of children and families. Head Start agencies design services for children and families that meet the needs of their local community and the Head Start Program Performance Standards.
The comprehensive services offered to children and families include:
- Screenings and follow-up for health, development, and behavior
- Health and safety
- Social and emotional health
- Family goal-setting
- Social services
- Transition services
- Services for children with disabilities
